CSI: SOS Childrens Village

For 30 years, SOS Children’s Villages has been making an impact on the lives of so many people in South Africa.

They take action for orphaned and abandoned children by building and strengthening families for them to live in and grow with love, security, and respect. SOS Children's Villages build families for orphaned and abandoned children. Eight to ten children are cared for in small family-type homes, the SOS families, and are raised like brothers and sisters.

Joan has been involved with SOS for a number of years. She has adopted House 14 in the Mamelodi village which she cares for. She regularly visits the house to check on the children and to ensure the house is still in tact.

Child Trace is a non-profit organization that works to raise awareness on issues of child safety with the main focus being child trafficking.

Child Trace (CTI) is the first organization of its kind to offer a Child Identification Initiative. The Child Identification Initiative (CIDI) was developed due to the lack of identification and verification systems for children under the age of 16 within South Africa. Further, Child Trace saw the need for the development of such an initiative in South Africa in order to help combat the child trafficking pandemic and the increasing number of missing children.
